UK-SHU Students Summit Program

In May 2012, a delegation of UK faculty and students visited Shanghai University to participate in three days of academic discourse, conversation and presentations. Students from Shanghai University welcomed the summit program through a night of many traditional Chinese performances. Ron Pen also performed Appalachian music such as 'Frog Went a Courting,' 'Moonlight,' and 'Cool of the Day.' The following day, Mary Anglin, Arturo Sandoval, Frank X Walker, and Ron Pen lectured on Appalachian culture, art, and identity. Concluding the student summit, Arturo Sandoval and Dr. Hui Jin presented The Quilt as Art: Dialoque of Civilizations. To wrap up, Dr. Qin Wang gave a presentation on Chinese pottery and Michelle Sizemore concluded with the end of the Student Summit.
