The University of Kentucky is home to the Bluegrass Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience (BGSFN). BGSFN is comprised of nearly 300 members, including faculty, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students and staff. This organization conducts Neuroscience outreach throughout Kentucky and hosts Spring Neuroscience Day, which is a large scientific conference on UK's campus at which students of all levels are given the opportunity to present their research. The Neuroscience Program at UK has applied for membership in Sigma Nu Rho, the National Honor Soceity in Neuroscience. This organization provides a means of networking with neuroscientists across the country and offers scholorships and awards to outstanding students conducting neursocience activities.
